Weekly Photo Challenge: Comfortable and Cozy

It’s been cold – really cold – this week. We get these polar vortexes (vortexi?) every once in a while and I usually just hibernate in a warm cocoon until they’re over. I know not everyone is in the throws of winter, but we all like to think warm and comfortable thoughts.

This week, the challenge is to:

Photograph Something Comfortable & Cozy

When thinking about Comfortable & Cozy, maybe think of your favorite places – that warm nook or a familiar place where you feel most comfortable. Maybe this is at home or your favorite coffee house.

Color and comfort of a neighborhood coffee house.

Or maybe think of snuggling up and the textures that we associate with warmth and comfort – a fuzzy blanket or seasoned wood. I get all nostalgic when I’m wrapped up against the cold, thinking of the past.

For this photo, I was exploring indoor lighting with a few items I found in my attic. I’ve been renovating my attic to be a studio – one reason this post is late this week!

Or maybe this is the week to photograph those friends and family that make you feel welcome and comfortable. This includes those furry friends that cuddle up with us as we snuggle under the blankets against the winter cold.

My cats have no problem staying warm in the winter.

I often associate a cold winter’s day with a roaring fire or candle light – the heat of the flame brings me comfort and warms up a cold winter evening.

My photos are mainly outdoor landscapes and travel scenes – made while out in the cold winter – so I look forward to seeing what you come up with this week to warm my heart!
